1.) Moisturize your skin.
Dry skin ages faster, so it only makes sense that keeping your skin moisturized will make it look younger. Use only non-comedogenic products on your face to avoid pimples. 2.) Drink water.
Besides moisturizers, a better way to stay young is to hydrate constantly. The body is mostly made up of water. Drinking anywhere between 8 to 10 glasses of water everyday hydrates your skin from the inside out. It also promotes firm skin and prevents wrinkles from forming. Regular water consumption also speeds up metabolism and can help with losing or maintaining a healthy weight.
3). Cut down on sugar.
Dermatologist and nutritionist Dr. Nicholas Perricone says eating too much sugar causes glucose and insulin levels to rise, and inflammation to occur throughout your body. The process triggers the release of enzymes which break down elastin and collagen, resulting in wrinkles, saggy skin, and increased signs of aging.
Do yourself a favor and avoid drinks and snacks that are laced with sugar. Foods that rate high on the glycemic index such as white bread and pasta must also be avoided since the body converts simple carbohydrates into sugar at faster rates than complex carbohydrate sources.
4). Drink alcohol moderately.
We all know that red wine can be good for your health, though it doesn’t mean you get a free pass to drink as much as you want. A study from 2009 follows female twins and found that women who consumed excessive amounts of alcohol looked older than twins who consumed little or moderate amounts.
5). Watch the salt
Having too much salt in your diet can be equally disastrous. In an article by Cleveland Clinic, foods rich in sodium can suck your skin dry of its much-needed moisture. Eyebags can form underneath your eyes and cause visible signs of aging. You can avoid this by sticking to the recommended 2,300 mg or 1 tsp. of daily sodium intake.
